Abstract
Work-family conflict is one ofthe prevailing issues in organizations and inability of employees to balance work and family could lead /0 increased rates of absenteeism and employee turnover; low productivity; decreased job satisfaction; poor work performance; and reduced organizational commitment. This research examined the effect of work-family conflict on job commitment of employees in six Commercial Banks in Lagos State, Nigeria. Survey research design was adopted. The target population was 54,028 employees, which consisted of all employees ofthe six selected Commercial Banks i17Lagos State. Nigeria. A sample size comprising 520 employees were selected using random sampling technique. Primary data was collected using structured questionnaires 011work-family conflict andjob commitment ofemployees in the selected commercial banks in Lagos State. Data were ana lysed using descriptive statistics and simple regression analvsis. Thefindings revealed that workfamily conflict has significant negative effect onjob commitment of employees.
