Overtime, women have been victims of various kinds of violent acts and behavior. This ranges from the plethora of domestic violence cases, to cases of women being used for violent rituals, and women being murdered by their intimate partners. The nature of women as being weaker to most men gives credence to this, and with each passing day, many more cases of intimate partner homicide is recorded. This study analyses the concept and theory of what causes this sort of violence, mostly directed towards women. It also explores the issue of violent rituals in Nigeria. The paper further states various instances of the occurrence of this act in Nigeria, and analyses the role of public policy and Laws in curbing the menace. The qualitative approach is used in assessing the heinous crime of intimate partner homicide in Nigeria. The study concludes that every individual and the government especially have a role to play in the protection of women from such occurrences, the curbing of the crime, and the eventual prosecution of the cases. The study recommends that every woman should be educated on ways to protect herself, and public policy should be effectively used. Also, the government should increase her effort in the prosecution of such cases. View Details
